“The River Fowey is one of the best and prettiest Sea Trout Rivers in England”.
The river also has the best late autumn salmon fishing in the country, remaining open until December 15th. Rivermead Farm lake is well stocked with mature brown trout, making it an anglers’ paradise for a full nine months of the year. Both the salmon and sea trout thrive by spawning in the pure upland waters of Bodmin moor. After 20 miles, the tributaries meet just above Rivermead Farm at Twowatersfoot.
The renowned Kingfisher pool at Rivermead Farm is one of the best fishing locations on the whole of the River Fowey. The EA's fish counter at Restormel Weir is currently registering encouraging fish movements. In the last 12 months the upstream run of sea trout was 10,600 (peaks April to August), and of salmon it was 675 (peaks September to December) with many salmon almost certainly being mistakenly recorded as trout. Tighter legislation, habitat management and restraint by anglers all appear to be playing a beneficial role for the River Fowey.
There are four individual properties set within the barn and a detached cottage. The Oak Tree and Kingfisher apartments offer delightfully cosy accommodation for two guests, while the Salmon and the Bluebell apartments provide comfort and relaxation for four guests. Rivermead Cottage easily caters for eight guests with continuing emphasis on tranquillity, using convenience and style to complement the outstanding landscape in which Rivermead Farm is set. Rivermead is able to accommodate a combined number of twenty guests which also makes it an ideal choice if you are planning a family party or reunion.
Fly casting tuition by a specialist local ghillie is possible by arrangement.
